Mylo Xyloto Comic Review

Coldplay have released a comic, along with co-writer Mark Osborne.

This is FREE today (16th April 2013) and is part of a six episode story.

Mylo Xyloto is a tale about a World in fear. There are different groups of beings living in Silencia, the Silencians, the Eaters, the 13 Irdoks who have tried to guide and bring safety to all, the Silencers; who are like a militia assigned to enforce the Irdoks Governance, and the Sparkers; who spend their time as rebels against all that the Irdoks stand for, by leaving bright and often luminous messages scrolled on walls, and billboards, which indicate that the World and surroundings that the Silencians have been brought up and told to believe is possibly a conspiracy?

The drawings and animations in the Comic are dark and eerie, barring when the Sparkers make their appearance, however it sets up an instant feeling of dangerous times, and of the Silencians living in fear.

Personally, the style of drawings and the setting in which we are thrown into instantly reminded us of Daft Punk's "Interstella 5555" which was a short feature length movie, set in a futuristic World in similar circumstances, and of which the film was broken down and used as music videos for their second studio album, "Discovery".

Is it a coincidence then that Coldplay chose to do the same kind of idea with Mylo Xyloto, also a studio album of theirs? We would like to have perhaps seen a similar choice of video for this album, using the comic.

That aside, we enjoyed the FREE episode issue#1 entitled "Color Is Crime", and instantly, upon finishing it, downloaded episodes #2 and #3, (issues #4 -#6 have yet to be relesaed). https://itunes.apple.com/gb/book/mylo-xyloto-1-color-is-crime/id633980936?mt=11

Worth a read, intriguing, fascinating, and out there conceptual artwork and story.
